There are lots of Web hosts, there are a few options that we have experience with:

John Companies Both the VPS and Dedicated Server work well. 10% discount on VPS if you say NewsCloud referred you. Deeper discount available for student/nonprofit. 5% discount on dedicated servers.

JVDS The StandardLinux1 VPS is $20 per month (3 Months = 5% discount, 6 Months = 7.5%, 12 Months = 10% discount).

Amazon S3 A bit pricey, but very scalable.

Dreamhost offers free hosting for non-profits. Root access not available.

Joyent (offers a free Facebook application host for one year - but you may have to wait a month for set up)
